Ah, an orderly file structure. Microsoft’s structure seems designed to be unintelligible (to me).

For those thinking of taking the Linux+ certification test - pay attention.

Grin, when it comes to *nix religious wars I tend to favor:
/opt over /usr/local...
KDE over Gnome, though I'm experimenting with Xfce on a new-to-me distro and I like it...
When it comes to the init vs systemd debate I actually don't care, as long as the beast boots...
And contrary to many Linux purists, I'll use proprietary software and drivers if I need to.

You sound a lot like myself. I have all of those same opinions, though I much prefer Xfce over KDE or Gnome these days.

You forgot the vi vs emacs holy wars.

Thanks. Very good info. I am sure happy with Linux and really like Linux Mint Cinnamon. I wanted to make a Python program stand-a-lone using Win10. All I can say is that it was painful with all the popups and reminders to do this or that when I just wanted to one simple task.

Please add me to the tech ping list.
My son and I have been using Linux since installing Slackware around 1995. We have both been using Linux at work since then.
I presented at SUSECon 2012 in Orlando. However, I generally use Fedora, RHEL, and Centos distros.

“Ah, an orderly file structure. Microsofts structure seems designed to be unintelligible (to me).”
I think there was to be some rhyme or reason to it, but either they never wrote it down, or if they did, nobody paid attention and MS decided not to press the matter.

Our mainframe runs Red Hat so I am one of those command prompt people. I do like writing unix scripts.

I could see myself becoming an Xfce guy. I’m experimenting with MX Linux on an old laptop and liking it. I currently use KDE at home and we have to use Gnome at work... In all honesty though, I don’t use any of them near their potential. I just want something that works and is reasonably familiar. Xfce is lightweight and simple...
