“Considering recent events around censorship and the de-platforming of conservatives, i.e. they think they really can control information on the internet, this isnt much of a leap.”
That’s the part that I keep coming back to. But they don’t THINK they can control info on the net. They DO. All the conservatives who have been banned ... where do you go to connect with them now? Their messages are important, but they’ve been silenced.
“Just checked on Snopes (sometimes I wonder about)”
No need to wonder about Snopes. Left-leaning activists. Literally, “Don’t go there.”
“Feb 4 is when they changed the name of the site. It had been up for 9 months before then.”
When rolling out a new computer system or feature, we’ve always run parallel systems for weeks/months until the bugs have been identified and fixed. Wouldn’t DARPA?
Many of us do understand and see this daily.
I am waiting for the de-platforming of FR. Within the next three years.
I appreciate you speaking up.
You can go ahead and think that if you want.
I hereby grant you permission to be wrong-o.
It didn’t work on me.
It also hasn’t worked on several others that I know.
We are into rescuing dogs. We don’t really care about much else.
And no dog maltreatment or threat of deep sleep ever touched your heart?
Of course.
But my heart isn’t my mind.
Here is a video from facebook. Watch it and let me know how it controls your mind.

Be careful, there’s no telling what the evil Zuck planted in it.
Except of course the original version of The Facebook was a shadow of what it is now. Just a student directory with some cursory connection and communication capability. FB didn’t become a repository to record people’s lives until years later, when it grew past the student population and people started living their lives on there.
Another thing the DARPA “theory” studiously ignores is that pretty much everybody involved in the early days hate Zuckerberg’s guts. He’s been accused of stealing ideas, code, and everything else under the sun. If there was some involvement from a government agency somebody would have spilled by now, they have no reason to keep Zuckerberg’s secrets, and by and large haven’t.
There’s just no there there on the DARPA theory. Too much is known on how FB happened.
The first sentence was tongue-in-cheek and not meant as a slur to you.
The second sentence was a simple fact...and also not directed at you.
Have a fun FR day.
It’s all good, trebb, to be honest I hate FB too.
I mean, I really can’t stand it or Zuckerberg.
But I know for a fact that in the very least it has provided a platform for a group of people who love dogs to rescue and relocate an impressive number of German Shepherds. So in that regard, it’s pretty cool. Same group also coordinates a large canine search and rescue community that covers the southeast US, so they do have some good guys on FB.
I admit some folks have found good uses for FB - my wife uses it to keep up with grand-kids and some friends - doesn’t post any personal info and hasn’t noticed any spates of targeted advertising...
I opened an account about 5 years ago and quickly discovered I’m not a social animal (FR is the only outlet I use) and canceled it after it sat idle for a year.
