Vox: Climate Change is not an existential threat to civilization (like AOC keeps saying)

Vox published an interesting piece Thursday which actually takes some climate change hysteria being pushed by rival outlet Vice to task. The Vice story was titled “New Report Warns ‘High Likelihood of Human Civilization Coming to an End’ Within 30 Years.’” The story, which featured an image of a broken statue of liberty standing in water up to her neck, was based on an “analysis” published by the Breakthrough National Centre for Climate Restoration, an Australian climate change think tank. It reads in part:

On our current trajectory, the report warns, “planetary and human systems [are] reaching a ‘point of no return’ by mid-century, in which the prospect of a largely uninhabitable Earth leads to the breakdown of nations and the international order.”

But Vox, to its credit, points out that even climate change scientists cited the Vice piece as overstated nonsense:

LOL! That's odd. VOX calling the 'report', what I like to refer to as, "climalarky".

Vox is a far left publisher. This is very odd.

Without climate change, this is what the Earth would look like:

About the same as it did 4 billion years ago.

Borrowing from the Mueller Book of Logic...

If you cannot disprove an allegation, then, it must be true and acted upon.

The world is doomed some 30 years in the future, and AOC will become president and savior of the world because of her predictions.

Climate changes with or without interference from Man. And I don’t think it will change quickly enough to cause a collapse of civilization.

Mankind’s goofy decisions and policies will be what brings civilization down (again) long before anything else.

Every catastrophe is a generation out. It’s what allows the doomsayers to maintain their cushy positions while everyone else is supposed to make the needed sacrifices to avert “disaster.”

Everything and I mean everything from a hangnail to bears pooping in the woods is blamed on global warming/climate change.

Still waiting for billy nye the bowtie guy to answer these:

1. Define the “correct” temperature range for the planet.

2. Define the “correct” humidity range for the planet.

3. Define the “correct” mean sea level for the planet.

4. Define the “correct” amount of precipitation for the planet.

5. Define the “correct” makeup of the atmosphere.

6. Define the “correct” amount of sea ice at the N/S poles.

7. Define/explain past glaciation and subsequent warming without any input from humans.

So far, crickets............ I’m even willing to give a deviation of a small +/- points too.

Out of control global warming on this planet right now is impossible. This is due to the splitting apart of the continents. When we had one continent and one ocean, it was very warm. Dinosaur times. The present configuration does not permit enough ocean circulation to store enough heat in the oceans to recreate those very warm times.

I’d like to hear the ClimateChange hustlers explain what is going to stop the next glacial period from happening since the pattern of glacial-interglacial periods has been going on for the last five million years.

IMO no human activity is possible that could alter that pattern.

And to the extent that it does, it would ameliorating or postponing an Ice Age. I don’t see a problem.

I don’t know about accelerating it. Given previous patterns, the next glacial period could have started a thousand years ago and probably will in at least the next five thousand years. If it begins again now that would just confirm the average by starting close to the average.

Then we can hunker down and deal with 90k-120k (average) years of glacial period conditions.

I don’t think we can affect it one way or the other but I’ll take inter-glacial weather any century of the millennium.

My insurance doesn’t cover home-displacement by mile-thick ice caps. lol
