Implementing Occam's Razor:
The so-called logic behind keeping and maintaining sanctuary city designations, in defiance of what Trump has been calling for - and his suppport for what Governor Ron Desantis (R) did in signing the bill banning sanctuary cities in the state of Florida - is that sanctuary cities allow law-abiding illegal aliens to report crime(s) committed by non law-abiding illegal aliens with out fear of reprisal.
Problem is, illegal aliens (even if they somehow do commit less crimes on average than U.S. citizens do and the jury may be out on that on many crimes) still lead to an increase in the number of those crimes themselves, regardless of what the crime(s) might be. For instance, if American citizens commit crime x at a y percentage of the total population of American citizens, and illegal aliens commit crime x at a y percentage of the total population of illegal aliens, and it is at even half the percentage, there will still be an increase of crime x being committed and thus the total numbers overall of crime x being committed will increase. IOW, the total population of illegal aliens may commit rapes at half the percentage in comparison to the total population of American citizens, but there will still be an increase in the number of rapes. Lastly, for advocates of illegal immigration, raising the issue that illegal aliens somehow commit less crimes is in and of itself a non-sequitur.
Finally, with more and more illegal aliens pouring into the U.S. daily, a percentage of them will commit acts of illegality, and thus a need for more and more illegal aliens said to commit no crimes to report their crimes. Ergo, the need for more and more sanctuary cities; Ergo Sum, a cycle of this having no end in sight.
Until the illegals obtain guns.
Maybe in places that aren’t sanctuary cities.
If you concentrate all the illegals on one spot, the rest of us are safer.
In my experience, Chicago has always had strong elements of a sanctuary city. My NW side neighborhood had thousands of DPs, Europeans who fled the war and the communist takeover of Eastern Europe. Most of these DPs were illegal aliens.
Chicago was slow to give Hispanic illegals the same respect. But it gradually came.
Chicago bribery/extortion is based on everything being illegal and passing money to not enforce the law. So when an illegal (of any ethnicity) got in a bar fight or a fight with a girlfriend or rival suiter (the 3 most common meetings of police with illegals) enforcement was based on passing bribes.
But most illegals did not feel comfortable calling the police, especially when they were seen as easy pickings by the predators. So many illegals practiced conceal carry, the same as many Italians and Jews who were not illegal.
Illegals practicing concealed carry in Chicago is the best proof of John Lott thesis on guns. Concealed carry does reduce crime.
I started to keep track after my life was saved twice by an illegal pulling out his Saturday night Special and forcing my attacker to flee.
