No that movie is not profitable. Budget was $110 Million, rule of thumb with marketing costs, etc. that film has to gross over $200 Million before the studio sees any profit. Don’t forget of that the theaters get 50% of the box office to start with.

It may well be profitable at some point, but not yet. Rule of thumb add 50% of the production cost for dist/marketing. Also the movie theaters get their cut although not a great amount hence $8 popcorn.
