No that movie is not profitable. Budget was $110 Million, rule of thumb with marketing costs, etc. that film has to gross over $200 Million before the studio sees any profit. Don’t forget of that the theaters get 50% of the box office to start with.

You are correct. My word choice did not convey what I really meant. But my second sentence does more clearly reflect what occurs when a movies costs are analyzed:

"if a movie breaks even a lot of people have made a lot of money."

There are many costs, such as inflated executive producer salaries, that are included in the overall production costs.
