Cops are investigating whether at least seven tourists who mysteriously died in the Dominican Republic were poisoned by counterfeit booze, The Post has learned. Officials want to know who supplied the alcoholic beverages the victims drank in the minutes and hours before their deaths over the past year and if the drinks had any dangerous chemicals in them, law enforcement sources said. The FBI is assisting and will take blood samples from the dead back to its research center in Quantico, Va., a source said.

Really, the investigators need to dig deeper into this.
There have been many reports of very serious illness of tourists in Mexico after drinking at resorts.
Quality liquor cost pennies in Dominicana. If it is indeed bootleg liquor where are the poisoned? Fatality is rather extreme outcome to drinking bootleg booze.
3rd world country. Give them back Haiti for punishment.

That was my impression as well. If it were random caused by bootlegged liquor, some German, Canadian, or Swede would have been nailed.
It had to be purposeful poisoning because one lady drink from a 7-Up

Perhaps it is one of the folks who replaces the bottles in the mini-bar. They empty out the pure booze and replace it with their bootleg stuff. Perhaps, initially, doing it in small amounts to avoid detection. They keep the good stuff for themselves.
There is some talk that a local distillery may have sabotaged a competitor in order to increase its market share on the island.
Reminds me of my grandmother’s horror stories about Prohibition. It happened all the time apparently.

So how do they explain that woman who was very badly beaten up and missing for over eight hours? She was found in some cellar with wastewater on the floor. I don’t think she’s claiming sexual assault.
The hotel dismissed her husband’s concerns and delayed looking for her for about three hours.
Makes you wonder how common hating Americans has become in their culture?
