1968 Ford Mustang that was parked over 40 years sold with previous owner's remains inside

Usually, when you buy a used car you get the title from the owner, but a 1968 Ford Mustang GT was recently sold with a previous owner included. His earthly remains, at least.

According to an account posted to MustangFanClub, the rusty car had been sitting in a Florida barn since the 1970s when its owner, James, passed away a few years ago.

His best friend Bruce asked the family if he could buy it from them.

They agreed, and he moved it with him to North Carolina.

Unable to get around to fixing it himself, Bruce decided to put it up for sale on Craigslist where it was spotted by a Georgia car collector named Zach Taylor.

When Taylor went to check the car out, he noticed a jar full of ash inside and asked what it was.

Bruce told him it was James’ cremated remains and that he could have them with the car to keep them together. ..."

Budden is getting a new body shell for the car, which arrived with the jar in the center console.

He’s still thinking about what to do with it, may figure out a way to work the ashes into the chassis so that James will remain with the car forever after the job is done six months to a year from now.

Large in size, excellent resolution and long in duration.

I was wondering more why it says “When Taylor went to check the car out, he noticed a jar full of ash inside and asked what it was.” when the jar clearly has the name JAMES written on the top of it. Unless it was written afterward, that should have been a clue!

That isn't "rust", it's "patina".

Its "patina" when you are selling. "Rust" when you are buying.

Floriduh is a bad place for cars. Humid and salty. It’s not the rust you see but the rust you don’t see that’s the real problem. Wonder how the frame is?

Because a jar of powder has someone’s name on it shouldn’t easily lead one to conclude or even suspect that the contents are human remains. Could be a jar of seasoning, or any number of other powdered substances that belonged to someone.

The cremains don’t bother me, the new buyer’s intent to transfer the VIN’s to a new construction shell and call it a ‘68 S Code GT do.
That car needed work, but I’d rather see a father and son learn bodywork and restoration with it for $2,000, then have someone else create an air car out of it for $27,000.
And yeah, until my recent divorce, I had four Mustangs, including a ‘70 Boss 302, and I’ve been restoring them for almost 40 years.

Not a lot of through-rust. But what’s the mounting for the front subframe look like? If that’s olay, he
can make something of it. But if the mounting point between the unibody and subframe is rotten, good luck.

Recently someone dumped someones ashes to cause pain to the person who cared about them, and they were charged with desecrating a corpse. No joke.

Mix the ashes with the new paint, the previous owner would like that!
