I watched the trial and still think that her retired homicide detective dad did it.

>> Nope. But Casey Anthony is still pretty hot. Despite being filmed in bars much of the time. <<

Whaddayamean? She’d look good behind bars.

It’s been some time so my memory may be a little unclear, but I remember most of it. Here’s what I think happened:

Neither the prosecution’s theory nor the defense’s explanation fit totally together. Under my theory I believe that all of the major evidence fits together.

Below are events, not necessarily in order at this time, but at the end I’ll write what I think actually happened more or less in chronological order:

- The big problem with the prosecution’s case is that they never really proved a murder took place at all, and they were trying to convict her of death-penalty murder! In libertylover’s world, the bar is be pretty damn high for death-penalty murder.

- The prosecution’s theory as to the cause of death involved the use of chloroform and used an expert witness who, for a living, puts dead bodies out in the woods and studies their deterioration. He found higher levels of chloroform than he had ever seen before. The prosecution theorized that Casey chloroformed Caylee and then put duct tape on her mouth to suffocate her and also put an unexplained little sticker on the tape. But the defense’s explanation of death by accidental drowning in the swimming pool is just as plausible as the expert’s theory. It’s about the only thing from the defense that makes any sense.

- The prosecution called in an “expert” witness who testified that the word “chloroform” had been searched for 84 times on the computer in the Anthony’s home. The prosecution spun this as proof that Casey was determined to kill Caylee with chloroform being involved. Now, I have a degree in Computer Science; and this guy was no expert. When asked about his search using his own program that looks for searches he said, “The computer said she searched 84 times”. What? WHAT? That sounds like something my late brother would say about football computer rankings. I explained to him many, many times that the computer only follows the rules that have been programmed into it. A computer doesn’t know crap; computers are not smart, they’re FAST. There was an IT guy on the jury and he must’ve noticed this too. The defense team brought in their own expert witness who found only one search for the word “chloroform”. A few days later, the first guy contacted the prosecution and said that he had found the error in his software and agreed that only one search had been performed, but by then the case had already gone to the jury and it was too late to recall him to the witness stand.

- Explained below: Cadaver dog alerted on the ground outside the shed.

- Explained below: Casey borrowed a shovel from a neighbor for about an hour.

- Explained below: Casey’s mother said, “It smells like a dead body has been in there”, referring to the trunk of Casey’s car. That’s because the body had been in there.

- An electric company meter reader, Roy Kronk, told the police he saw a dead body in the field 2-3 months before the official discovery. Things might have been more definitive if the cops had listened to him the first time. They might have been able to determine a cause of death. Remember that Tropical Storm Fay had dumped 20-25 inches of rain in the area and the vacant field where the body was had been flooded and was still wet. But the cop who arrived on the scene with Roy Kronk didn’t want to wade in there and get his pretty little cop shoes dirty so he chewed out Kronk for wasting valuable police time. A few months later Kronk was again assigned to the same area. He said to himself, “I wonder if that body is still there?” It was, so he called the cops again. This time the field was dryer and the cops found the body. Sometime later, the first cop was fired from the Orlando Police Department for not investigating seriously.

- Celebrity pathologist, Dr. G, who had her own TV show, was the pathologist for this case. She couldn’t determine the cause of death because the body was so badly deteriorated, but she ruled that it was murder anyway. This was completely circumstantial because the body had been found in the field and not even buried. No human being should be thrown away like a piece of garbage but it doesn’t prove that the person died by murder.

- Casey lied like a dog about what happened. She finally had to “fess up” that Caylee had been missing for about 4 weeks but blamed a nanny “Zanny”. And she lied about being employed at Universal studios. She lied about a lot of things. She was photographed partying after Caylee went missing.

- Casey claimed sexual abuse by her father. No real proof was offered but anyone could tell as the events unfolded that Casey and her father had a very rocky relationship. They had a courtroom camera on her father as this abuse was asserted and he had NO reaction. I would’ve been livid if I was accused of such things.

- The defense explanation was mixed between plausible and ridiculous. But they couldn’t explain things as I will do because that would be admitting that Casey was guilty of some serious crimes. Their explanation was that Caylee drowned in the family swimming pool and through some sort of weird conspiracy that her father gave the body to Roy Kronk who put it in the field. They didn’t dwell on this (because it’s crazy).

You may have to refer back to the text above because I’m not going to try to weave all of it in below. So, here goes, this is what I believe happened, more or less (stated as fact even though it’s theory):

Casey’s parents, George and Cindy, were both at work the day Caylee died. Caylee absolutely loved to swim, but she was normally supervised of course. Casey was there with Caylee, but Casey wasn’t very attentive. She was either napping, or doping, or surfing, or texting, or sexting, or whatever, but at any rate she was not very attentive. However, the defense showed pretty convincingly that Caylee could’ve opened the door to the outside on her own and then climbed up into the above-ground pool, where she drowned. (There was something about the way she was dressed, but I can’t remember right now.) At some point Casey discovered the body, but she couldn’t call the authorities because of the horrible relationship she had with George and because George adored Caylee so much that Casey knew he would go ballistic. Casey probably feared for her own safety from George so she didn’t report the drowning. She lied all of the time and thought she could lie her way out of this.

She knew that George and Cindy would be home from work soon and she needed time to think her lies. So, she pulled her car into the garage and closed the door, so that none of the neighbors could see, and then she wrapped Caylee’s body in a blanket and put it into the trunk of her car. She opened the garage door and left with Caylee’s body in the trunk and started driving around trying to decide what the hell she is going to do… Where she went, I can’t remember. I think she just drove around trying to decide exactly what to do.

After some time the body started to smell and ooze fluids from its openings. Casey went back to the house and took some of George’s duct tape and placed it over Caylee’s mouth to prevent the fluids from oozing out into the car anymore that it already had. She got a little sticker, which Caylee loved, and put it on the duct tape. This was to say, “I’m sorry, Caylee. I didn’t mean for this to happen.” After 2-3 days the body was starting to smell so bad that she knew she had to do SOMETHING and came up with a plan to bury the body under the playhouse in the backyard. After George and Cindy went to work one day she again pulled her car into the garage and closed the door. She got the body out of the car and laid it down next to the playhouse, ready for burial. She went to a neighbor and borrowed a shovel. George almost certainly had a shovel in his shed but Casey no longer had a key since George had recently caught her stealing gas from the shed to use in her car. She started digging the hole, but since it’s very hot in Florida and she wasn’t used to manual labor, she quickly realized that she could not dig this hole. The body lying next to the shed while Casey dug is why the cadaver dogs alerted on that spot, but the body wasn’t there any more of course. She gave up the dig and returned the shovel and then put the body back in the car. This is probably the day she put the body into the field where it was eventually found.

Over the next 4 weeks Cindy and George wanted to see Caylee and they called Casey repeatedly asking her to bring Caylee over. Casey put them off saying she was too busy right now, etc. At some point Casey drove to Tampa and told her parents she was there but couldn’t come back right away because a friend was in the hospital, or some such story. She went to parties and pretended to her friends that everything was normal because the die was set.

She had abandoned the car and George and Cindy got a notice that it had been towed. After they picked it up is when Cindy called 911 and reported that her daughter’s car “smelled like there’s been a dead body in there”. During the same phone call Casey told the operator that Caylee had been missing for 4 weeks. She claimed she had been kidnapped by her babysitter, “Zanny Nanny”.
Later the cops arrested Casey for the murder of Caylee. At some point George tried to commit suicide, but failed.

The jury found Casey not guilty of counts one through three regarding first-degree murder, aggravated manslaughter of a child, and aggravated child abuse, while finding her guilty on counts four through seven for providing false information to law enforcement, two of which were overturned on appeal.

I’m sure there’s a law about illegal burial or something and I believe Casey Anthony is guilty of that. Unfortunately, that wasn’t one of the charges since the prosecution thought convicting her of death-penalty murder was a slam dunk because of all of the lying that everyone knows she did and the partying after Caylee disappeared and about the chloroform evidence.

Anyway, that’s what I think happened.

I followed a lot of it and agree the prosecution didn’t prove anyone murdered Caylee. I would hate to have been on that jury.

I didn’t realize there was a discrepancy in the computer search for chloroform. That is interesting, and didn’t help either. I wonder what the explanation is for the high levels of chloroform found in Caylee’s body?

I heard a lot of talk at the time and one thing that was happening is a lot of parents were giving children cough syrup or Benadryl to make them sleep and it had gotten to the point many thought it was fine to do. A woman told my daughter she and her boyfriend gave his son cough syrup and left him alone and asleep in the hotel room while they gambled at a casino. My daughter was so shocked and did report it but nothing was done. That woman acted as though everyone was doing it. People you would think were responsible adults were doing it not just people that you would suspect of things like that.

When the Caylee Anthony story broke I thought what happened is she gave Caylee something so she would sleep and went partying. Probably did it more than once so it became easier and she would stay gone longer, maybe giving more and more so Caylee would sleep longer. At some point something went wrong and Caylee overdosed or got sick and was too drugged to not aspirate.

I didn’t think Casey actually murdered her or meant to, but thought it was child abuse that went wrong. I do think your idea is plausible too.

I don’t think Casey is all there, I think she has mental or at least emotional issues. She seemed very child like herself. The lies, oh my goodness...but lying is not murder. Possibly Casey was abused. One of my friends thinks Casey was abused by her father and her father had begun to molest Caylee and something happened due to that.

I guess we will really never know but it does look like many dropped the ball along the way, which made it impossible to really determine what happened.

Very sad. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
