U.S. soccer star Alex Morgan is getting ready to help defend her team’s World Cup title in France next month and if the Americans should win again, she said she’s prepared to decline a possible invitation to visit President Trump at the White House.
Morgan, who has previously been outspoken about Trump and his administration’s policies, told Time Magazine in a lengthy profile published Thursday she doesn’t stand for what the current president stands for.
“I don’t stand for a lot of things the current office stands for,” she said, adding that she doesn’t care for the administration’s policies about separating migrant families at the U.S.-Mexico border.
She said she would not go to the White House if the president invites the team. It was unclear if Trump had any plans to invite the team, if they win.
“We don’t have to be put in this little box,” Morgan said. “There’s the narrative that’s been said hundreds of times about any sort of athlete who’s spoken out politically. ‘Stick to sports.’ We’re much more than that, OK?”

During the playing of national anthem, Morgan was singing along...She looked happy to be standing there...
However, Rapinoe did not sing along and she looked unhappy...By the way, Coach Ellis picked her as the captain...
Really...You don’t have to sing along...But, at least look as if you are happy to be there...

Many women play college soccer. Most of them will never play in World Cup...Those women graduate from college and get jobs in the real world...

The President should end this practice of inviting teams to the White House.
It serves no public purpose. The only reason to do it is to gain a little favorable publicity for the President. If the players are going to make that impossible, why should he bother?

I found out about Alex Morgan’s quotes today...I was in some soccer forum and somebody mentioned her anti-Trump quotes...
I have to admit that I had a very positive opinion of Morgan until now...

She's going to look like the fool that she is if the team loses. Oops!
It happened previously to skier Lindsey Vonn when she figuratively shot herself in the foot with the same kind of claim.
Just two months before the Winter Olympics, she said she would not accept Trump's WH invitation if she won the 2018 Olympics. Her expected win turned into a big loss when she went home with only the bronze.
Trump didn't invite her to the WH. :-)

I agree. They could have well hit the brakes after 7 or 8 goals. The coach is also classless as well as the staff who celebrated like they just won the cup. Apparently, they never heard the word, “sportsmanship”, or are too ignorant to apply it in sports. Disgusting, it may come back to bite them.
