The Soviets had not eve reached Warsaw by the time we landed in Normandy, unless you consider Normandy not part of the Continent. Warsaw fell in 45. Although they could have earlier, but they wanted the Nazis to crush the Polish uprising so any resistance to the Soviets takeover would be gone.

Wrong. US and British forces had been in Italy since late 1943. The Russians didn't actually set foot in Germany until August or September in 1944, after the Normandy invasions had forced the Germans to divert even more military resources west.
