The fingerprints were found in bricks at the Hili 2 archaeological site in Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism
Egad. Ancient humans had 15 fingers on their right hands!
They still make bricks the same way there.
So it could be a very new brick.
Those are not the kind of fingerprints you could put into a database.
Looks like it was as likely a method to displace material to fill the mold, avoiding inconsistencies in the outer dimensions. Holding mortar would be a happy coincidence. If it was a typical mortar, the limestone matrix would have been what held everything together.
The National reports that ancient craftsmen used their hands to made indentations in the mud bricks. The indentations would be used to contain the mortar that held the walls together."
OK, so if they know these ancient builders make indentations with their hands to help the mortar stick better, why is this being called "mysterious"? Very misleading; however I suppose if they had just headlined it, "Archaeologists find yet another ancient construction site," most people wouldn't click on it.
My son and I built a concrete walk way. We put our prints in, in along with the dogs. I wonder if they will find it in 2000 years or so and speculate.
Ever try to make a spear tip or arrow head using only random stones?
How about attaching it to the shaft without it falling off?
Would it fly straight if you threw it? Would it kill your prey or would you starve?
