I collect Makarovs. Great design, have two, a Russian and a German. If the design were slight improved upon, would be an all-time best selling handgun, but manufacturers can not be convinced. Oh well...

Make sure they don’t sell you a used rifle in a new box....

One of the finest handguns I own is a Browning 1910/1955 .380. Smooth as silk and doesn’t jam. 109-year-old design. Should tell folks something, but many never get it.

Not to change the subject, but you really haven't laughed until you witness the shade tree redneck hot rod mechanic who puts jet fuel in his ride, thinking he's stumbled on to something. I'm a private pilot, and many times I've pulled up to the fuel island at the airport only to wait on somebody with fuel cans looking to buy aviation fuel for their project cars. Those who know what they're doing will buy the 100 octane LL aviation fuel. But, every now and then, you will encounter some genius filling his cans with Jet A. I warn them not to put that in their car or truck. Some are putting it in a diesel engine, and that will work great. But, some actually have the intentions of putting that Jet A in their gasoline-powered car or truck. I will warn them not to do that, and the ones that reply with "..oh you mean it will give me too much horsepower" let's me know they have absolutely no idea what they are about to do. One guy last winter actually pulled his "street racer" up to the pump and topped it off with Jet A while nobody was watching. That car never made it out of the gate. They had to push it over to the vehicle parking lot where they picked it up with a wrecker days later. Another guy pulled up to the fuel island with his "race car" on the trailer and topped it off with Jet A and then tried to start it. He spent the next 30 minutes trying to figure out why it wouldn't run until I walked over and told him the bad news.
OK, back to guns.

Make are fine pistols. Accurate, reliable and well made. The East German models bluing is excellent! Taurus firearms depends on the model and year of manufacturing. I carry a Taurus TCP .380 and its an excellent weapon. I have 2 brothers that each bought a Taurus 605 at the same time. One locked up internally after 6 rds. and went back to the factory for repairs and works fine. The other 605 has ran like a Swiss watch.

Yes 3000-5000 rounds through a Taurus and its done. But the average gun owner probably never puts 500 rounds through in the lifetime of the weapon. People buy them because they are cheap.

I have A 9mm Hi Point.
It’s heavy as a brick but it has never misfired or stove piped a round. Just use good quality Ammo, keep it clean and you’re good to go.
It only cost me $149. For someone out there without a lot of money it does the Job. It’s just a plinker to me but to someone else without the means it offers affordable protection.
I also have a nice little ATI .22 that is built well and didn’t cost a fortune. Fits my hand very well and is modeled after a 1911. Pretty accurate for only having a 3.4” Barrel.
Of course, those are just a couple of cheap Pistols in my little Arsenal, but I love my S&W Model 29 .44 Magnum.
Now that’s a Gun.

So true. You get what you pay for. My Dad always preached never buy cheap guns. I feel a lot better with my Walther CCP. $400 and you can’t go wrong.

IF you are thinking of buying your FIRST 9mm handgun, you could do FAR worse that buy a “Italian Police surplus” BERETTA Model 92S or one of the used S&W 5906 pistols at 279.oo plus S&H, from www.classicfirearms.com
NO, I don’t work for the company but I do buy a lot of guns/ammo from them.

Great conceal weapon I thought so. Right now Ruger LC9sPro, striker with about 3/8 in. retract to recock, no "safety" all pulls exactly the same, 7 rounds in mag w/shaped heel.
