It would never be delivered by a Democrat President today, because no Democrat would mention God, prayer, humanity, or ask Americans to pray to the Lord to preserve our republic, our religion or save civilization, especially if it meant protecting Catholics, Christians, or Jews.
Back then the enemy looked different, but the evil they practiced is no different than the liberal evil that threatens us today.
Seeing the surviving D-Day veterans at the ceremony reminded me of the 75th anniversary reunion at Gettysburg in 1938. I wasn't alive at the time but I have seen film of the reunion, with Union veterans and Confederate veterans shaking hands over a rubble stone wall where some of the fighting had taken place.
I was glad that there were no surviving German veterans there on Thursday--that would have sent the wrong signal.
Given today's climate, the 1938 event at Gettysburg would have excluded the Confederate veterans.
