Season 5 is a waste of time and money. Episode 1 deals with a VR game that lets players assume different bodies and sexes while fighting. The fighting quickly becomes a side-show, with the players becoming lovers instead. Both people are male but when one becomes a female lover, they get together for fantastic sex. The moral is that a person's sex is fluid. Yuch. The second episode is about an AI doll that becomes intelligent and evil. We have seen that done else where many times. Boring. The next episode is about a kidnapping gone wrong. The entire "story" is so complicated and disappointing that you will demand a refund. Not only has Black Mirror descended so low as to be unwatchable but the imagination that had powered it is completely gone. Shame!

I watched Black Mirror for the very first time last night. Of course, the only episode I ever see is homosexual propaganda. Yay! They lost me forever.
I was thinking of watching Season 1 today.
Is it good?
Not really.
There’s a FEW episodes that stand out but most of them are of the bad outer limits variety with over the top social justice moralizing (and at that nonsensical)
Electric Dreams on amazon isn’t much better but the last episode in season 1 is a stand out for me (Kill All Others) which looks like they tried to anti-Trump it but it’s actually anti-totalitarian (and really pro Trump). I can’t tell if that was intentional or they over projected themselves.
Netflix and Amazon Prime are really cutting back on their ‘original’ series.
I was watching S2 of The Rain and it ended after 6 episodes. S1 had 8 episodes.
Both Netflix and AP have cancelled many of their ‘original’ series, too.
These few-episode seasons are difficult to keep up with, especially when there is a year or more gap between seasons.
One episode details a ransom plot in which the Prime Minister of England must have sex with a pig, or one of the Royal princesses will be killed. Not only must he have sex with a pig, but it must be broadcast live over all of English television channels.
And he does.
The show is full of sick sick sick crap, and most of the shows ought to have gotten their authors beaten.
There are a few good shows. I liked the one called "Metalhead", but out of all of them, there are perhaps 3 or 4 shows worth watching. The rest are absolute sick crap.
I was amazed it lasted past the very first episode.
There were some pretty good episodes after that.
Has it ‘jumped ths shark’?
Every show does this. They get you suckered in, then they hit you with the propaganda.
I have enjoyed Black Mirror, but it is overrated. Its not Must Watch TV, but something for when I have spare time. I find it rather trite.
The only new shows that my wife are currently watching are the new (last) season of "Elementary", "Whiskey-Cavalier", and "Blood and Treasure". None of the shows are, as another FReeper phrased it, "must-see TV", but they're good for passing the time between supper and our two-hour dedicated reading time before bed (nerd-30, as my son calls it).
The first four seasons were decent to excellent sci fi, reminiscent of 1960’s Outer Limits. Watched the first of the three Season 5 episodes last night and was more than disappointed. Just select seasons 1-4 and you’ll probably enjoy them.

I made the mistake of watching the first episode last night. I thought the lesson was going to be that fidelity is important in a marriage. Infidelity obviously causes problems. Of course the lesson THEY chose to teach was “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. BOTH the husband and wife practiced adultery with the complete knowledge of the other. A sad way to end it..the wife ends up going out and banging random guys. They showed them “happy” but in real life they would have been even more miserable.
Did you both enjoy Stranger Things?
Or GoT, tuns of nude hot chicks then “a story”...
I didn’t - Just couldn’t get into it.

After episode 1 - The Pig Humper - How can anyone watch that show. Flipping disgusting.
