Jussie Smollett’s manager told an emergency operator that the actor had been “jumped” in a “pretty f----- up” attack yet had to be convinced to file a report with police, according to audio of 911 calls released Wednesday from the night Smollett claimed he was the victim of a violent hate crime in downtown Chicago. <{> “I just need the police to come by. I work for an artist, I don’t really want to say his name, but he states ... he went to Subway, he was walking by and some guys, I don’t know, they jumped him or something like that, and I just want to report it and make sure he’s all right,” Smollett’s manager tells the 911 operator in the more than 7 minutes of audio released to the Chicago Sun-Times by the Office of Emergency Management and Communications, which runs the city’s 911 system.

Listening to that, it sounds like the manager was not in on it, and didn’t believe it either. But he had to do what his client was telling him what to do.

I had a similar thought.

To me it sounded like Jussie told his manager about the alleged attack but told him not to say anything, maybe because Jussie didn't want the police involved right away or at all.

Perhaps it went something like this.

Jussie hatched a plan to stage the attack as essentially a publicity stunt.

He used real people, a real bleach, and a real 'noose' to make it appear authentic. Staging the attack would make it appear real as opposed to just claiming it happened.

He didn't want the police involved because he knew they would ask questions.

He told his manager about the attack and said, 'don't tell anyone' but, unfortunately for Jussie, his manager believed him and reported it to the police.

Jussie might have only planned to tell the media and look like a magnanimous hero by not reporting the 'racists' to the police.

But his manager may have screwed up his plans.

Who knows. Lots of speculation. I hope someday we find out.
