During commencement season, young people across the country enjoy the ceremony marking the completion of their college career, attaining degrees reflecting their interest in ideas, innovation, art, sciences and the myriad of courses offered by American academies.
But the camaraderie inherent and necessary as part of the college experience is under attack by a familiar foe: identity politics. This divisive tool is now creating divisions in the very experience that is meant to expand one’s world and our belonging in it.
College is meant, in part, to be the shift into adulthood; the experience of moving out of not just your parents’ house, but out of your comfort zone as well, and into an arena where you will encounter people different from you, unlike your hometown, challenging what you think you know about your life by tossing you into a different one. In addition to the education by the books, the intention is to expand your understanding of the world beyond yourself. Literally.
There is now a warning sign that the leftist obsession with identity politics and the division that it brings have overwhelmed the academy. The leftist strategy of promoting self-regard, otherness, suspicion and division is taking root in the very institutions that are meant to have the student look outside the known, enter the unknown and make it better with their presence.
The National Association of Scholars has released a study indicating that “at least 75 American colleges have black-only graduation ceremonies and 43 percent of surveyed colleges offer segregated residential halls. The organization refers to this as ‘neo-segregation,’” Breitbart reported.
Harvard’s separate commencement for African Americans first made national news in 2017. The New York Times had a headline that said, “Colleges Celebrate Diversity with Separate Commencements.” Readers should presume The Times simply doesn’t recognize the irony

When will we be able to have “white only” spaces or clubs?
I’m not talking public accommodations here, just freedom of association.
After all, “everyone else is doing it.”
And, don’t get me started on the Congressional White Caucus.
The Bigotry at heart of the Diversity movement shows its teeth.
Degrees in “Gender Studies”, “African American Studies” and “Hispanic Studies” should be awarded at separate commencements, so that no one will confuse them with real degrees. Otherwise, separating people based on group identity is an act of evil that I thought we had outgrown after 1945. Clearly, the socialists who tried to rule the world back then have not changed in either their goals or their methods.
No surprise. From day one in college, Non-Whites are herded into one room and Whites into another. Non-Whites are made to believe that those evil Whites are the reason they need special privileges, points added to their score, failures overlooked and free tuition, while the Whites are told they are racist bastards and are responsible for all the evil in the world, and that’s why they pay full tuition. And they can be accused of a hate crime for dropping a banana peel.

Just imagine the firestorm of outrage you could ignite by simply proclaiming there would be a “whites-only X” for any event X larger than say a backyard barbecue. In today’s rabidly leftist PC culture some demographics are more-equal than others...

It was right downtown, on Adams, just west of State Street. Many a deal was made there. In 1968, it was invaded by feminists, and the men were too polite to promptly bludgeon them to death.
Now, they would be too gelded to reclaim it.
You’ll have them soon enough except they will be imposed on you. New Jim Crow...except something white...designed for retribution and segragation.

Whites need to organize a civil rights march. We are now the minority, after all.
Why are they having multiple events?
This is costing taxpayers money.
Make the malcontents pay for their own separate commencement.
There is no one more racist than a liberal...
And then they go work in offices together and the minute the white boss says “do this, please” they are off to HR complaining of racism. Saw this in NYC whenever I worked in offices.
When segregation is not driven by whites it isn’t a problem. Blacks demand black only graduation ceremonies, and it is lauded as a celebration of their achievements. White want similar? Racists!!!!
At least it might keep some of the excessive “audience participation” down for the other graduation ceremony. Sort of analogous to the children’s table at Thanksgiving.
If you are the commencement speaker at one of these separatist events, do you have to be the same color as the graduates?
And do you get listed on the roll of commencement speakers for that year, or is it only the speakers at the “main” commencement who get listed?
How far does this go? Can we segregate by social class, state of origin, favorite games?
Who’s looking out for and standing up for whites?
Wonder what it will be like for white kids in the future? The public education system along with Hollywood teaches white hatred and all groups but whites organize politically. That all has nowhere good to go.
Not yet.. but we'll know it when we are.
