I thought there were already specimens from the autopsies enroute to CDC in Atlanta. But no reason field test kits wouldnt be available right there in Suva (For while they were still alive).
How many people does the. Flu kill a year?
My son got that at chucking diseases that year
“Chucking diseases”?
Better known as chuckie cheeses
Got it! We got it from a guy who came here to mill some of our logs. He was coughing.
In 24 hours DH and I were both sick. I had walked next to the guy for a few hundred feet and DH worked with him all day.
A married couple from Texas are deceased in Fiji, which may yet be caused by an unidentified influenza strain.
An investigation into the cause of their deaths is ongoing, but a recent World Health Organization alert
warns of a deadly influenza strain, including in Fiji
where it is particularly affecting young adults.
"CDC has received a request for assistance from the Ministry of Health in Fiji regarding the death of an American couple
in Fiji of an unidentified illness," the CDC said in a statement.
"CDC is working with the government to investigate, including receiving specimens for testing in CDC laboratories.
As per protocol, we will share results with the Fiji Ministry of Health when available."
Hat Tip to Nullie !
It was the coughing kid at the tank fight video game or the ball pit
Its flu season in that area of the globe now
36,000 a year in the USA. Here is the best article I have seen on the flu and the “vaccine”. http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2009/11/does-the-vaccine-matter/307723/ The article is from the Atlantic, Nov 2009 issue. Long, but worth your time, IMHO.

Here is another possibly Spanish flu related disease-https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Encephalitis_lethargica that is very scary.
!! thanks!
“particularly affecting young adults” doesn’t sound good. The 1918 flu had a worse effect on the young, those with a healthier immune system, in one of nature’s ironic twists, called a cytokine storm.
Of course it could be because they hang around in groups sometimes kiss each other.
Let’s hope it’s the latter.
*face palm*
It’s a conspiracy!!
“Fiji Flu” has a nice ring.
BTW, it has been reported that the people who worked in the cinnamon factory in 1918 didn't get the 'Spanish Flu.'
Bingo. Hence the ‘unidentified’ bit.
If they called our CDC, then it’s on.
