As the headline states, I'm looking to buy a very basic home stereo system with speakers, fm/am radio, and CD ability. I'm not tech savy, nor all that interested in delving into it, but I may not have a choice anymore. Most stereo systems sold today are intermeshed with Bluetooth. I have budgeted up to $250. for it, but hope I needn't go that high.
The model I own right now is that way, but I am able to use the CD player and the radio without going through a lot of intricate hooking up. I only plan to change because this current model is rather small, and does not provide a fuller sound of music. I'll listen to various CDs from Issac Hayes to my collection of Harp Concertos. I can tell somethings missing.
So is this just the way things are now? If you want a home stereo, you will have to deal with the fiddling it takes to connect with Bluetooth. I tried searching for 'Analog stereo systems' or 'Without Bluetooth', but it keeps coming up, unwanted, unbeckoned.
I received advice her on FR a few years ago, when I was seeking a radio with a physical Tuner knob for fm and am. I wasn't able to retrieve that posting to review for now, so here I am again. If all else fails, I'll just get one and mess around with it until I get some results. Same technique as usual. I was just hoping there was an easier more direct way to obtain what I prefer.
I have two that fit your description.
One setup at the cabin and one sitting on the shelf in the basement.
Tuner/amp, cd player, JBLs.
eBay for what your looking for.
Heck, you might even want to try craigslist.
Heres one of your old postings, but it doesnt seem to be about a AM/FM knob.

For my craft room, DH bought this for me, and it’s wonderful:
Yamaha MCR-B020. Has AM, FM, USB, CD, and Bluetooth. Amazing rich sound. I love it.
Find a used on on eBay
search “80s cd stereo system” on ebay
Craigslist or yard sales. $10.
Bose CD radio from Craigslist.
This has Bluetooth, but I don’t use it. Wouldn’t even know how.
98% junk but ever so often you strike gold.
Try a Goodwill store. I’m serious. You would get a great price.
Or ebay
The easiest way to find one is............... YARD SALES. Fri. - Sun.
Grow Up. Take a tech-savvy granddaughter who understands everything; Blue Tooth, Blue Ray, HDMI, iPhone even, (and can probably advise you on your love life) and get with new technology.
Don't be so damn stupid-sounding and tight-wad.
You will be rewarded with brilliant video, swelling audio and ease of use you won't believe!
I know you can do it! (I'm 78, by the way!)
or drop some money on a sonos system and play what every you want at anytime using a cell phone app.
They have an interface to legacy cd players. I’m all digital now.
I may be $1800 into mine, but I’m really into music.
Cool. I'm looking to buy a swivel recliner that also rocks. And maybe a new night stand.
Garage sale.
Great thought.
I’ve seen decent systems on Salvation Army shelves.
Ebay for a Bose Wave CD system from the 90’s. About $150 for a nice used one.
Your description of what you want was the target market for these 30 years ago, but for big $$$$.
