1963 Corvette Stingray: Master judge and restorer Mike McCluskey took this rare fuel-injected Sting Ray (that Jay bought sight unseen) back to stock perfection.

That was how they got high horsepower in small blocks before the big blocks came along, with the mechanical fuel injection. 1963’s 327 was rated at 360 horses, and the last year was 1964 (395 hp). 1965’s big motor was the big block 396 rated at 425 horses.
There currently seems to be something wrong at YouTube. Several videos I clicked on return "Video Unavailable". However, the vid was working when I posted the thread. Then again, a few minutes ago. Seems to be on and off with at least some of their videos.
As far as looks go I don’t like the divider down
the middle of the rear window. Glad they lost it
in ‘64.
I love it. The problem with it was that it obstructed the view through the rearview mirror.
...PARTIALLY obstructed the view through the rearview mirror.
Corvettes of that era along with the XKE were among the most beautiful cars ever.
The obstruction is fine as long as you can see the red flashing lights right behind you!
I had considered the view obstruction aspect. Makes
me wonder if such a design would be allowed today
by whatever entity that determines safety parameters.
As a kid I was a big Vette fan and I was 12 in ‘63.
I thought the look was a little too “busy” although
I would not have used that word at the time. To each,
his own.
For sure, at least regarding the Corvettes.
However, my all-time favorite Vettes were the '69s...
My cousin got one of these, new, for his high school graduation back in 63. He kept it for 40 years. He put Midas mufflers on it and every 24 months when they would rust out he would get them replaced for free.
Remember the Aston Martin which Tippi Hedren drove in “The Birds”?
Very simple lines but just plain beautiful.
XP755, the 1961 Mako Shark
alongside the 1961 Ford Falcon... ahem...
The limited run of the split windows is what makes them more desirable to collectors.
In the series “Smallville”, someone connected to the show must have a large collection of early 60s Ford cars.
They appear often in various episodes. Several Falcons similar to that one too.
Actually quite a few GM cars of that era too but that might be coincidence since there are some throwback episodes or scenes.
A friend of mine in grade school’s dad had one. He was an OBGYN and he really brought in the coin and he knew his cars. His wife drove a 63 Buick Riviera, he had a 63 Vette (easy to tell because of the split window), Then he got a Porsche 911 and was that motor cool looking with the big fan. Then they moved.
Like I say did he know his cars.
