Couple of guys I know (separately) went fishing in the Alaska back country. In both cases their guides carried double barrelled shotguns for bear defense. Why not a pump shotgun or a semi-auto?

He’s right if the bear is charging. But why let one get the drop on you? I suppose it happens.But its better to change the bear away of drop it at 100 yards, which is danger close.
A 12 gauge rifled slug is a great persuader.
