For years, scientists have known about the existence of another brain within our bodies. Our stomach functions totally independently and does far more than just digestion. It reigns over a spectacular colony of one hundred thousand billion bacteria that have a strong impact on our personalities. Some diseases of the brain, like Parkinson's, may stem from the degeneration of intestinal neurons.

I hesitate to recommend a 55 MINUTE video, but if you liked the Worm thread you may enjoy this video.
All the time on the gut,HFCS and the worms... my grass is crazy long...gotta get cutting...
Reminds me of this quote. The more we study the more we discover our ignorance. Percy Bysshe Shelley

I liked the video you recommended and posted it here.
The gut, HFCS and the worms...
“Fat Man’s Prayer”
We are what we eat, said a wise old man,
And Lord, if that’s true, I’m a garbage can!
At oleomargarine I’ll never mutter,
For the road to hell is spread with butter.
And cake is cursed, and cream is awful,
And Satan is hiding in every waffle.
Give me this day my daily slice
But cut it thin and toast it twice.
Victor Buono
And then there are the twin brains #3 and #4 and their antenna.
+1
I’ve read a lot about this, from Dr. Mike Cass and Dr. Joseph Zdanowski.
Gut feel = a real thing
This hypothesis appears established and well regarded.
Now looking for an opposing view, I’m not big on the old ‘settled science’ thing.
Thanks
I’ve read and heard that, for guys, the second brain lies between his legs, and that in many cases, it’s the primary brain.
The late Robin Williams was also an early pioneer for the two brains concept. And a single antenna!
IMO, the most detrimental substance for the brain, gut and other organs is alcohol. Lifelong use results in breakdown of systems before their time.
People marvel at Trump’s stamina. He’s a lifelong teetotaler.
Anecdotally speaking, healthy octo and nonagenarians I know are abstemious or moderate in alcohol consumption.
See #9.
Interesting, IIRC the French make mention of the Robin Willams thinking???
That said, I’m hearing impaired and may have misunderstood??? But he also points?
I recently read a book, very readable and enlightening: “Gut” by Giulia Enders. Passed it (npi) along to an aunt and uncle who have gut grievances. Recommending it to all in need of the straight poop on this subject.

My father was from a clan of nondrinking Scotsmen.
Mostly I suspect, they knew water was an inexpensive resource. Alcohol, for that you need to put out some money.
My father was problem free for almost 92 years. the females of the clan put on many more miles.
For my self, I’m a near teetotaler. Many of my friends consume more in a single sitting than I would in a year.
Sadly I have lost more than a few of my old friends that never made it anywhere near old, alcohol a major factor.
Research “gut microbiota” and “gut dysbiosis”.
I’ll drink to that.
I used to drink but like Trump I saw what it was doing to other people and I just quit long ago. Haven’t missed it at all.
“Ive read and heard that, for guys, the second brain lies between his legs, and that in many cases, its the primary brain.”
And quite often the source of much pain and suffering. The little devil!
Absolutely agree, alcohol wrecks your health. And you brain.
For one thing, all alcohol we drink has a large percent of ethanol, exactly what we put in our gas tanks. I’m the only non-alcoholic in my family of origin. No is an easy word to say—and mean.
Veto!
