My favorite book of all time. I first read it in the ‘60s which was the best time for its dark humor.
I saw the original movie, and I’m watching this series. It’s hard to recognize Yossarian when you expect Alan Arkin. Same with Major Major Major Major with Bob Newhart, and ditto with Milo Minderbinder with Jon Voigt. These new guys all look alike.
The book did such a great job on character development that no movie or series can impart.
I wonder if they’ll get around to Hungry Joe’s
hobby of snapping on the light in his tent so
he could look rats right in the eyes just
before shooting them with a .45.
The kid who plays Yossarian reminds me of Kit Harrington (Jon Snow), from "Game of Thrones"...just with shorter hair.
I know a Dr. Major, works at the local Urgent Care. I told him if he joined the Army, he could be Major Major.
Also my favorite. The original movie really short-changed the Stateside part of the story. Lieutenant Scheiskopf and the parades, and the pilot training, which was , after all, a dodge to run out the lock on war, on the part of some.
Also, Clevinger’s trial, if well done, would be high comedy.
