In an interview with People magazine out Wednesday, Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek credited the prayers of millions of his fans for helping him in his fight against stage-four pancreatic cancer, now in near remission. Yet, while ABCs World News Tonight touted Trebeks praise, the CBS Evening News ignored that part of Trebeks comments and NBC Nightly News edited it out of the quotes read and video clips they aired.
Before we can examine what was missing, lets look at what should have been reported.
ABC anchor David Muir recalled how Trebek vowed to fight it by playing a soundbite of the gameshow host telling fans back in March: With the help of your prayers also, I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease.
Muir read sizable quotes from the magazine article where Trebek credits prayer:
Trebek telling People magazine: The doctors said that they hadn't seen this kind of positive result in their memory. Some of the tumors have already shrunk by more than 50 percent. He adds, it's kind of mind-boggling. I've already gone from where I was to this. The doctors are so excited, just beside themselves with joy.
And Trebek again thanked the millions who have sent good wishes. I told the doctors, this has to be more than just chemo. I've had a couple million people out there who expressed their good thoughts, their positive energy and their prayers. The doctors said it could very well be an important part of this.

Or if Alex would just get with the program and credit Allah . . .
He is a graduate of St. Jerome’s Catholic High School in Kitchener Ontario back in the day when it was Catholic (I have a colleague who went there about 15 years later).
I’ll “take” mecca for a hundred Alex.
NBC represents the atheistic materialism that is invading the country. No surprise they would get their knickers in a wad over someone who actually believes in God.
Back in the day when the Pope was also Catholic.
Yes, but the dribble produced by Catholic education in Canada ceased to resemble Catholicism in any identifiable form long before the sayings attributed to the Holy Father went the same route. Still, you make a good point.
If these NBC execs had his diagnosis I strongly suspect they’d suddenly become fans of prayer.
Alex, we’ll still pray for you whether or not the media edits it out.
Interesting, to me anyway: his charming, smart, soft-spoken manner is so much like that of my first employer back in Chicago when I didn’t know my way around the business world. He was from Kichener too.
Pity the petty actions of TV network hacks who are blind and dumb where spiritual matters are concerned.
Democrats are scum.
F’k NBC and all the other censors of truth and hope they get a visit from the big “C” day in their lives! Sorry, I know it’s a terrible thing to say, and our family has seen it...mom died at a much too early age with renal cell carcinoma... grandmother too...
But these media sh*t’s just can’t report and must stifle even the most small bits of truth about healing from whatever hope and good will that people have for one another for political agendas just need a little more real life pain for their biases...
I am sure Alex Trebek has received all kinds of well-wishes, including from people who said they would be praying for him. It’s beyond shameful that they would edit the comments of a gravely-ill man when when wanted to express thanks for that. It’s equally shameful that anyone might be offended by his remarks. Nothing surprises me these days, though.
However his treatment has succeeded, it is to be celebrated. People with advanced pancreatic cancer have horribly slim chance of survival.
What is an NBC?
Imagine the gushing praise if Alex had credited Allah with his results? OMG! But as is, the persecution of Christianity continues full speed ahead all across western world. These deniers will some day regret their decisions.
Nothing
But
Communists
There would have been gushing praise from the media if he thanked Satan.
Yet in the end God is not mocked.
WE pray for Alex every evening. As to NBC - well satan hates truth. nough said.
They also don’t believe in good TV anymore.
