WARREN, Mich. (FOX 2) - Saturday, the manager of Sagano Japanese Steak House & Bistro contacted Fox 2 to say that a friend of 10 people seen leaving without paying, took care of the group’s $530 bill. The payment came after Fox 2 ran a story Friday, depicting the group walking out of the restaurant before their tab was settled.

Another dine and dash in metro Detroit has left a Japanese steakhouse and bistro out more than $500 after a large group decided they weren't interested in paying for their food on Mother's Day. And make no mistake, this was no accident.
That's what a Warren police corporal said while assessing the surveillance footage of the group eating. The owner of the steakhouse agrees.
"They know they didn't pay," said manager Yukio Oki.
Oki runs the Sagano Japanese Steak House & Bistro, located on Dequindre Street. He said party came in around 8 p.m. and included three small kids and a baby. Despite the connotation of a "Dine and Dash," the video surveillance is anything but.

So those african Americans are racist towards Asians? I think so and since they work for the federal government an investigation is in order and if they do engage in discriminatory practices they should at least be fired.

A contractor I work with told me they bid on a job in Detroit but had to give up because no one they tried to hire could pass a drug test.
Eventually restaurants in that kind of neighborhood will either close down or have to take deposits or phone numbers (and verify those phone numbers) before they even seat people. They’ll be called racists, but really, what else can they do?

Before I even looked at the video I knew what to expect. And yep. It was what I expected.

That’s how it /should/ be. You got some getting desert, some getting ready to leave, and 5 checks at the table, and I’m not seeing a server coming by to issue the checks.
The restaurant should work with their servers to reinforce not just service, but timely delivery of the bills and are dang lucky someone stepped up to pay rather than it being a $500+ lesson.
Yes, it’s Mother’s Day, the second busiest day at a restaurant in a normal year, and probably the worst day of the year for service in my experience.
No excuse to leave without paying, but also no excuse not to present the bill TO be paid.

In Ann Arbor, they just force you to close-up shop by not renewing your lease. Just so a “Mediterranean” restaurant can open in the newly refurbished location.
