Writing has always been a huge part of my professional life and, with due modesty, Ill say that Im quite good at it. The common core idiots are teaching my son to write these massive paragraphs that are the epitome of poor writing. Paragraph breaks are our friends.

Same here. I used to write fiction many, many moons ago. But marriage and family took up almost all free time for that. It wasn't my profession but it was very much a craft...like woodworking or painting. I miss it. It taught me a great deal.
I taught my children much of it, Additionally, they were done with their schooling before this sort of writing became 'de rigueur'. Fortunate timing.
