Green Book - Movie Review Contrasts & Complications ~ Eagles Field
5-28-19 | Eagles Field

Posted on 05/28/2019 5:11:07 PM PDT by Eagles Field

With all the emotions, critiques and observations that can be embroiled traveling in a movie. Never before have I felt privileged. I’ve mounted every description and rode on all adjectives available. But this one felt like an honor. A package of buried treasure gift wrapped, delivered on the front porch of your spirit that feels like a healing sympathetic.

The linchpin of the movie is pulled in the deep south, of a culture with heels dug in. In a corner of the world on the cusp of change. But the essence is the courage unveiled in hearts unlettered stumbling for compassion unarmed. The two characters who couldn’t be more unlike in nature, quality or form, in the heat of battle of egos with swords crossed. Crying silent for answers of questions denied, in the marshlands of misconceptions ingrained, find the best of themselves in the other. In each the missing piece discovered, from the last person they would believe to ask, or bother to befriend. Saviors hide behind the walls built from the things one takes for granted.

Ignorance is taught in overcrowded omissions, love an instinct thirsty. The choice between a minds gaze closed or open.

Saw this one.....
....Virgo Mortensen played against type......he’s usually cast as a hunk....or heroic......and in this he is neither....he’s rather brutish
Well played ......did not care for his abuse of words

It was a good movie for the most part.........but all the good will carefully building up for Viggo and the other main part is needlessly damaged, IMO, by the ‘suggestion’ ( not graphic) of gay orientation

I honestly couldn’t figure out why the black musician even wanted to perform down South........almost masochistic because ‘surprise’ he encountered prejudice.

Eagles Field, the Poet Laureate of FR!
I would have probably reviewed it in more pedestrian terms, but I loved the movie. Amazing how the two characters, so antithetical to each other, managed to learn so much from each other. My understanding was that they remained friends for life.
Look, I’ve actually witnessed Jim Crow in action. It was horrifying. Hard to believe we could treat our fellow human beings with such disregard.

I believe the tour was arranged by the record company.
Dr. Donald Shirley had no say in the itinerary.
