This day I remember parts of my family that died in wars.
I like this holiday and I don’t like it.
Ah. So.
I read my gramps’ war journal and go over the stuff I have from him on the Hancock.
I’m a retired vet, my first overseas tour was in Nam right at the end of the way, my last was Mogadishu when we had some choppers go down.
Thanks for the sentiment but today is about all of us who didn’t make it home.
Last summer I visited the wall for the first time, I cried like a baby. It has been a long time but those names weighed heavy on me.
As I said, memorial day is all about them, not the surviving vets. It is a day for our nation to honor those who made the supreme sacrifice for our freedoms.
And yes, they did it for our freedom to speak the words the liberals hate to hear, for our guns, and our right to believe in the god of our choice.
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for those who have given so much for our nation. In Jesus' name I pray their sacrifice will be heralded and their loved ones comforted with Your strength and our reverence on this day and always.
I took pix and video of a man in a suit on a 100 degree day who pointed and said, “That’s my brother.” A bunch of us helped him out with that.
I didn’t think the Wall would hit me like it did.
The Korean memorial, though. Whoa.
Out of salt? May I offer some from my tears? Thank you and Bless You.
