Actually, fairly standard weather for coastal Georgia. If we are going to have 100 deg temps in a year, it’s gonna be May/June, not July/August.
I am sitting in the cabin of our un-air conditioned sailboat in the St. Simon’s Marina, Brunswick, Ga. It’s about 89 degrees in here, but, we have fans going and the Indy 500 is on. The Coca-cola 600 is tonight. The wind is blowing off the ocean, so, it’s bearable. It’s been cool at night.
Hoping soon to be heading further north all the same.
Where I grew up in Western India, hottest months were May-June, just like you mention in coastal Georgia. Monsoons arrived in July and cooled it off. When I arrived in US, it was at first strange to me that July-August were hotter in mid-west.

Yes, this only seems unusual for people who aren’t from the South.
Well the positive thing about a 90°+ heat wave in May and June is that it dramatically shortens the grass cutting season in Upstate South Carolina.
I used to winter over at that marina, dock left of club house out at the end. Sorry we missed each other.
