The single most unbelievable piece of transport flying in history. Captain Sully did a great job putting his plane down in the Hudson, but it pales in comparison to Sioux City landing(or controlled crash). Pilots of exceptional skill.

Most, uh, "interesting" flight we had was losing 21 feet of starboard flap on approach to DFW. Boeing 757. 🛬

There happened to be a UAL Instructor Pilot onboard. He sat between the Pilot and Copilot manipulating the Throttles on the 2 remaining engines to steer as best as possible. It was a plan He thought up while being there.

Yup. Interesting to say the least. Some of the mounting bolts had fatigued and had some other issues as well according to the NTSB assessment.

I live in Omaha, ust south of Sioux City and I remember the first responders who saw the passengers and thinking other people had gotten to the crash first because they couldn’t believe there were any survivors.

It’s not a “actual video”, but a computer simulation with occasional actual audio.

And, it doesn’t recreate the crash, but goes dark, then has text describing the end result, along with follow-up.

Turbine fan blade had cracks from manufacture that didnt get found at inspection. Exploded, cut all 3 hydraulic systems. Fan disc parts found later by Farmer plowing His fields.

I worked that crash, Captain Haines was a phenominal man as well as denny that was on the floor working the controls. I was responsible for Cpt Haines retirement flight from Dulles to Denver, we had many of the survivors on his retirement flight.
