From an unknown source:

Not to be picky
But if you have a dicky
And want to be called Vicky
You are a sicky

From a very known (and hyper smart) source:

Richard Feynman had a hierarchy of the sciences - -
Physics is applied mathematics.

Chemistry is applied physics.

Biology is applied chemistry.

Psychology is a bunch of witch doctors

And the above was the best I could find on that joke of a profession.

My dad was an old school psychologist who got his PHD partially on the GI Bill. A WWII vet, he bought in to the idea that if you only understood more about the mind and were a better psychotherapist, you could really help people.

According to my dad who was practicing in those days, the APA did not just declare sexual deviancy to be normal, they were harangued and shouted down at meetings until they gave in. It was not a rational, scientific based decision. They were intimidated into signing on to this hoax.

They’ve been off the rails since the DSM III came out. My experience is purely anecdotal, but most of the shrinks I’ve met are themselves unbalanced and disorganized. The only one I’ve ever genuimely felt comfortable with is my current one. And that’s because he was a cardiologist for the first 30 years of his career.
