We went to the farmer’s market this morning and found more RAIN! It is so wet here in Wisconsin. It will be quite a while before we can get the garden planted. I can’t imagine how stressful this season is for the farmers around here waiting to get things planted.

I suffer from a lack of room. My freezer spaces aren’t large enough to easily put quart jars. I do stuff ziplocs of seeds into a couple large jars to store in my freezer though. Keeps all the fiddly bits of bags confined to one spot. I have to make do with nested ziplocs for everything else, sadly.

My goal at some point is to get a big new stand up freezer. I’d love love love one of those. Mine has ‘issues’...And I don’t really trust it with stuff that really has to be cold all the time.

Black Agnes :" The nutjobs are already blaming it on carbon..."

We live in a 'Solar System', governed by the solar (sun).
If we lived in a 'Carbon system', we'd be governed by charcoal and petrified trees.
This weekend (Memorial Day, holiday) celebrates carbon, charcoal, and Bar-be-Que, with, or without, Sriracha sauce,
rather than the courageous Veterans, who prevented us from speaking German or Japanese.

It's not going to be a fun year. :(

We got the 'town' chores done and are starting on the 'farm' chores now, after a light lunch.

First up is getting the bare root apple trees and my climbing rose in the ground...then lots of other things!

"'Greeneyes' has been FOUND"

Praise God! (I once was lost, but now I'm found - but that's a little different).

Konnecticut - finally stopped raining and dried out - most of the gardens went in last weekend, (and the lawn got mowed. The neighbors cheered.)

We found a strain of sweet potatoes that will/should grow up here, so we planted those - other than that we've got the same old tomatoes, cukes, eggplant, peppers, squash, etc. we always grow.
THIS is the most wonderful time of the year!

First comment blames man.

No mention of grand solar minimum and what the declining magnetosphere does to the jet stream.

No, it’s strictly manmade.

And he’s in the ‘wind industry’ (shocker...)

When killing the fossil fuel industry doesn’t bring back ‘optimum weather conditions’ (and it never will, what’s optimum?), do any of you have any doubt they’ll start to ‘ban’ other carbon dioxide sources? (old people, disabled people,...)

Beautiful Crabapple! I have a white one too, ‘Spring Snow.’ She’s only a few years old, but she bloomed nicely this spring, too.

she produces no fruit, so no mess and no wasps. Yay! :)

We’re having lots of salads from kale, lettuces, arugula and spinach. My radishes are just about ready to pull.

I started an asparagus bed last season, so I’m not picking any until next year - but I have been buying it at market. Yummy! :)

Lucky about the ticket! I’ve never had a speeding ticket, though of course, I’ve deserved them through the years.

Last time I got pulled over, the cop gave me a break due to my clean driving record, but I got the old Finger Wag, LOL!

Relatives in the Cemeteries, or just looking for old graves? We like to do that. Kind of a weird interest, but humbling in many ways.

None of us is getting out alive! ;)

Glad to help!

You’d THINK I’d be sick of gardening after 20 years in, ‘The Gardening Biz*’ after my Army career, but strangely, I’m not! :)

They can be pretty destructive. I am adding Madonna and Stargazer Lilies to my perennial bed this season. Excited! :)

I could tell.

The plants looked like they got hit pretty good.

It was just on a whim that I decided to transplant them, otherwise I probably would not have noticed.

I’ll pick up some Neem oil.

I could not find any more adults and took an old (formerly) sharp kitchen knife and scraped the eggs off and put them in soapy water.

I had moved the plants to a much sunnier space, which it turns out, is supposed to help.

I’ll be getting some neem oil and spraying the undersides of the leaves.

I only have two plants so it won’t be hard to control them.
