Congratulations and good luck with this important new role.

Good morning!

I am very glad to inform you that I was officially appointed as Director
at the Center for American Studies.

As probably you already know, CAS is based in Rome and is one of the most
important American libraries in Europe.

During last years, it’s became an indipendent think tank devoted to the
US/EU relations.

The chairman is Gianni De Gennaro, former Chief of Italian Police and
former Director of National Intelligence in Italy.

In the new board of directors there are people as Ron Spogli, former US
Ambassador to Italy, Stefano Stefanini, former Italian Ambassador to Nato,
Marta Dassù, former Vice Minister to Foreign Affairs.

In few word, my hope is that CAS will improve his role of the Italian
pillar to the Transatlantic Alliance (talking about foreign policy and
defense but also about energy, technologies, culture, environment).

This will be my job and I strongly believe that every your support and
suggestion could be very precious.

Here I am, trying to do all the best for this goal.

Of course, I am still engaged as publisher of Formiche (monthly magazine
and daily online) and Airpress (magazine on defense and aerospace).

Thank you so much and... see you soon, I hope!

Warm regards,

Paolo Messa

Dear John,
FM Gentiloni’s meeting with Amb Susan Rice on Tue Dec 9 has been moved to 2 p.m.
This makes our proposal to meet over a quick lunch at the Embassy not doable any more.

HOWEVER, Minister Gentiloni is really looking forward to meeting with you – even briefly - during his stay in Washington, so he asked me to explore with you two additional options, both of them at the WH since both of you will be there that afternoon:
- Either, immediately BEFORE his meeting with Susan Rice, eg Tue at 1:30 pm;
- Or, soon AFTER his meeting with SR, that is to say Tue at 2:30, or 2:45, or 3 pm.

John, I really hope one of these two options work, this is really important for me, I count on your personal friendship on this.

Grazie!
Hope to see you soon, Claudio

Huma,

I hope this email finds you well. I am sorry to bother but we are finalizing our programme for our trip to the U.S. next week, and we would need to know if you have news regarding the possible meeting with Secretary Clinton. We are keeping the programme flexible in order to accommodate the meeting, but we would need to know if there is a chance for this to happen, and if so, where (Washington or New York) and when.
Thank you for all your help

Regards

Luca

Dear Huma,

I am the Chief of Staff of new Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni. I had your email from my friend Matt Browne at the Center for American Progress and I apologize for bothering you during the Thanksgiving weekend.
The Foreign Minister is coming to Washington on Tuesday Dec. 9th to meet Secretary Kerry. We will also stop in New York for meetings at the UN.
We will be in Washington/ NY from the 8th to the 10th of December.
I believe our Embassy in Washington already got in touch with your office.

I am aware Sen. Clinton’s schedule is always very busy, but we were wondering if Mr. Gentiloni could have the chance to meet Sen. Clinton during his visit in the U.S.
> He would be honored to meet her and discuss about the major issues in International Politics. Moreover, Mr. Gentiloni is a member of the Italian Democratic Party so we are always particularly close to the U.S. democrats.
> We meet Secretary Kerry on Tuesday morning, Dec. 9th, but for the rest we could meet Ms. Clinton either in DC or New York as her schedule allows.

Do you see a chance for this meeting to happen?

Thank you very much and sorry again for bothering on a Saturday.

Regards,

Luca Bader

You might also want to to know that Paolo Messa has been appointed last September as head of Institutional Relations for Italy at Leonardo/Finmeccanica.

Under the supervision of who? Gianni De Gennaro.

Interesting also that all these conversations bounced back and forth between huma/clinton and lucabader. A blatant example of highest national security negligence in both countries.

Of course, in Italy no one has ever found anything wrong in this.

Does anybody but me find it strange that even when a dim is no longer in government they are still out there acting like they are?

I did not like seeing John Kerry at the D-Day Commemoration and we know he has been to Iran and other places telling their governments to just sit tight, not to deal with Trump.

Obummer was up in Canada recently talking to True-dough, what was that all about?

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.......
