I think at minimum we need the flat tax proposed by Steve Forbes in 1996, though I would raise the rate to 18.75% to eliminate the FICA tax, too.

“Oh, the dreaded 12C letter.”

Yes. And this one is the worst. Taxpayer married during the year and income is over 401% of poverty.

Reduce the IRS’s taxpayer interface to a postcard that is printed in English.

Send discharged staff to a retraining camp and let them learn to code.

Makes one glad if they don’t have to deal with those people anymore.

The flat income tax (FIT) WOULD be better than the present Communist Manifesto inspired “progressive income tax,” (PIT) Ray. No question about it.

HST, the flat income tax is still an INCOME TAX!

Under a FIT, EVERY American wage earner would still BE FORCED to divulge his/her economic circumstances to faceless, sometimes LESS THAN trustworthy federal (AND THE 53 STATES THAT IMPOSE AN INCOME TAX!) bureaucrats under penalty of prosecution!

Furthermore, under the FAIRtax, when a person leaves the retail establishment, having just made a purchase, his/her tax will have been paid the minute the transaction is complete!

I can make the case, and have, that the IRS would be far more nasty and aggressive under a FIT than the current PIT. That is for another discussion.

So, here is the deal: FAIRtax abolishes the most hated agency of the federal government!

THERE IS NO BUREAUCRATIC OVERSIGHT OF AN INDIVIDUAL’S TAX PAYING EVENT!

AND, April 15th would become just another nice spring day!

What is not to like about that?

(Sorry about the YELLING - I am not yelling at you - just trying to make the point that the CAPS are referring to.)

I agree. But I'd like to see a 2-3 year transition period of a flat tax until all the mechanisms for collecting FairTax revenue are in place (remember, a number of states do not have a sales tax, and we need to put in a place a remittance system for local FairTax collections back to the Federal government).

Sent you a FReepmail. I’ve yet to see the akternate year of marriage calculation offer relief. The key is for people to report ANY change in circumstances to the exchange. There’s no penalty for no insurance in 2019 but antone receiving the advance credit must still file the 8962 re onciliation.

#5 except the part where they say you owe large amount of money, pay by this date.
Also no explanation / breakdown of the why.
You can try writing but it will be months and still no explanation as any private party could give you right away.
Tip: Set aside a day and start calling the IRS / any gov’t dept.

I believe that, upon passage, the FAIRtax should go into full force and effect on the 1st day of January after the bill passes.

Any delay would cause the FAIRtax to end up being aborted, just like BREXIT deal was aborted in the UK!

When forced to it, governments CAN move quickly!

Let us just “GITTERDONE!
