A spider scare landed a woman's van in a river.
An unidentified Georgia woman was backing her Kia van down a boat ramp to put her kayak in a river in Kingston, about 56 miles north of Atlanta, on Sunday when she was startled by an unwanted visitor.
A spider suddenly jumped in her lap, according to a Georgia State Patrol press release.
Frightened, the woman said she jumped out of the vehicle without putting it in park. The van then rolled into the Etowah River, floated downstream a few feet and then became "totally submerged," the department said.
A boater in the area tried to find the van, but couldn't. The woman's insurance company will try to get a dive team to locate and remove the van, authorities said.

Wow. Putting it in park can be done as one smooth move toward egress.
When last seen the woman was living in a VAN down by the RIVER!
Is the spider dead?
What a coincidence. I just got a great deal on a slightly used van off of Georgia Craigslist.
Isn’t there a nursery rhyme for that?
“Along came a spider,
who sat down beside her...”
Man, them divers is strong fellers.
That was Ann Barnhardt for a while, I believe.
She had embraced poverty so well, I doubt that she could have afforded a kayak!
Yeah, I’m thinking she was too lazy to sell it, or return it to a lender. Or if paid off, wanted quick cash from her insurance company. I don’t believe her story, and I hate spiders.
You would think that a person who floats rivers in a kayak wouldn’t totally lose their mind over a spider.
Spiders and insects dropping into the canoe or kayak is rather common. It is rather fun trying to flip that snake out of the canoe as you try to figure out if it’s a Yellow Bellied Water snake or a cotton mouth.
Panic is NOT our friend.
I have found in my later years that I am beginning to put “how someone handles pressure or surprise” on my list for forming an opinion of them...
Nature lover...?
