What’s the point of an autonomous vehicle that you can’t allow to be autonomous?

“What’s the point of an autonomous vehicle that you can’t allow to be autonomous?” I’m asking this question out of pure ignorance as I’m still locked in the old school paradigm; drive a 2015 Silverado crewcab 6.2L 4x4. Here’s my question; can the Tesla be programmed to autonomously drive itself from the starting point (example, work location) to destination (example, residence) without driver intervention? If yes, I could possibly go for that. I drive every now and then from Dallas area to Phoenix area. And, it is possible to make the drive without stopping if carrying enough fuel and bladder is large enough or maybe carrying a milk jug along. Anyway, interested in learning what Tesla’s capabilities are. Thanks 😊...
