Such horses occasionally "win" having the advantage of not having to carry the jockey's weight around the track. Any horse that crosses the finish line with less weight on his back than he was required to carry by the conditions of the race is automatically disqualified. (There may be some allowance for a small discrepancy, but if a horse is supposed to carry 120 pounds and his jockey weighs in at 118, the horse would be disqualified and the jockey would be in trouble.)
