I’ve known of people who did that.

Some retirees would organize regular caravans... and some Mexicans I knew who were legal would do the same.

We used to go to get a prescription filled after our insurance stopped covering it.

My brother-in-law's father used to share rides down to Mexico with fellow arthritis sufferers whose Stateside doctors allowed only 1 shot every 3 months of Cortisone, due to its nasty side effects.

But the post-shot pain relief dissipated long before 3 mo were up, leaving them clamoring for another shot *NOW*.

The Mexican doctors had no compunction about giving the Gringo tourists what they wanted. It sent him into an early grave, but with less pain. I'm not sure if that's exactly what he wanted, but it's what he got.

This isn’t news. People have been going to Mexico for medical/dental treatment for decades. The quality of care they receive...well, I’m sure it varies from first rate to ‘don’t want to think about it’. My cousin took my aunt to TJ to get treatment for failing eye sight that involved injections into her eyeballs. Didn’t help her one bit. And Steve McQueen tried to prolong his life by taking treatments there to no avail. I have heard that some dentists are pretty good.
