Garamendi has an IQ of about 83. In this case, however, his warning about all things Chinese are valid.
Do they finally see the error when the government subsidizes anything?
Probably not.
The Chinese don’t need to wipe-out the US Rail system.
The US government market-fixing, the ICC and unions already did it.
A whole lot of it, yes. That’s why we’re down to just five Class 1 railroads today, never mind all those “bike paths”.
“Wipe out”??
How?
Nuke them from Orbit?
EMT burst?
Oh, undercut pricing from US manufacturers who have a very, very limited US market, EEOC, OSHA, EPA, LGBTQRSTUV regulations, etc.
I think 83 is too high. I am guessing 79.
Panama Canal syndrome?
The US government market-fixing, the ICC and unions already did it."
Of course rail magnates like E. Hunter Harrison went over and beyond the call of duty in ravaging American rail infrastructure and support systems..
Cringe everytime hear the Name, Os whole Family all takers. Put up with them 50 years.
The Chinese built our rail system - give credit where credit is due. With drones and autonomous driving, rail’s days are probably numbered.
You mean like how Kawasaki, Nihon Sharyo, Bombardier, Alstom, Siemens and so many others “undercut” the nigh-nonexistent US railcar industry?
I give no credit to the communists.
And if it’s about credit, then Irish ought to be equally credited with Chinese in that respect.
Um.. the Irish are offended.
Excellent point...
Because increased dividends to shareholders through whittling a railroad down to nothing are more important than all those stupid old trains and tracks and... all that other spooty old railroady stuff.
And then China can starve.
rwood
That would, of course, imply World War III, will anyone be around to ride the rails?
Years ago my company had a railway division in Pennsylvania that was eventually closed down since we could no longer compete with the Canadian subsidized Bombardier........
Wait, didn’t his buddy Biden say China wasn’t the enemy?
I get so confused...
