Here’s something to be grumpy about: Grumpy Cat, the furry feline who started as an Internet meme sensation before becoming a household name, has died. She was 7.

Grumpy’s caretakers — Tabatha Bundesen, her brother Bryan Bundesen and her daughter Crystal Bundesen, all of Morristown, Arizona — announced the news on Friday morning in a touching message to the cat’s more than 12.4 million followers across social media.

They explained that the cat had died “peacefully” in Tabatha’s arms on Tuesday morning, due to complications from a recent urinary tract infection that “unfortunately became too tough to overcome.”

Hard living in the fast lane. Still, a better death than Buddy Clinton had.

I had never heard of the kitty before because I do not normally follow such things. But it was kind of an interesting article about how Grumpy Cat had a medical condition, dwarfism that caused her unusual face and other issues. I assumed that she was bred to look that way when I saw her picture.

Poor kitty. A healthy cat can live a good 20 years. But they often don’t show symptoms of severe illness until it’s too late.

He’s even grumpier now. He heard that there were 72 bowls of Meow Mix on the other side, and all he got was 70. And he had to share.

Very true, especially with urinary tract problems. My Himalayan made it to 19; my tabby to 17 (the latter was an outside cat, and they don’t live as long as their indoor counterparts).

The Himalayan was a gorgeous cat, but living proof of what generations of breeding for appearance does to an animal’s DNA and natural instincts. She would sometimes lay in the backyard, only a few feet from the bird feeders, and watch them come and go without the slightest interest in trying to catch and kill one.

The mixed-breed tabby was the polar opposite. She not only knew what birds were for, but how to get them. With a running start, she would jump up and swat a bird off the feeder, then chase it down when it fell to the ground. The Himalayan saw no point in exerting herself for food, when there was far better grub in the house.

That is so true! I had a mouse in the house and my 2 Persians just ignored it! Good thing they are so sweet and loving because they are useless for anything practical!

I had a cat who lived about 23 years. Although it was semi-dead and looked like a zombie for her last three years.
