I'm probably wrong, but I didn't think you could plead the 5th to a grand jury. That being said, dude should be buried under the jail, not sitting in it.

Yes you can.

In order to plead the 5th, you must actually have a valid 5th amendment privilege.Manning would likely have that given its legal history. I doubt it would ever be offered immunity.
