The most ridiculous traffic-control technique are absurd four-way stop signs. They just create trouble and confusion.

They are not so bad.

You know these stops are ahead, and slow down to a stop (as opposed to speeding up for a light and braking hard if you miss).

Folks look at who is already there when they arrive. You just let them go first, and you go at your turn.

I prefer them over lights. The light stops me for a while, even in the middle of the night, while the stop lets me slow, stop, and proceed.

If you aren’t familiar with the 4-ways, yes you may be confused.

Vehicular traffic should only be halted in a single direction.
Let the traffic on a north/south street go unimpeded if stop signs are on the east/west street.
They create more hassle than they are worth.
