Becerra was appointed California attorney general on Jan. 24, 2017, replacing Kamala Harris (D), who was elected to the U.S. Senate.I see the problem here. Evidently Becerra didn't sleep with Willie Brown to get ahead.

And for the same reason, Jerry Brown wasn’t eligible to be AG as his stepping stone back to the governor’s mansion. The GOP filed suit during the election, but when a Dem judge postponed the case until after the election, the Republicans slunk off with their tails between their legs and dropped the case.

Does CA have a state law that says the state AG has to be a lawyer? You don’t have to be at the federal level.
BTW, I just discovered Becerra graduated one year ahead of me in high school.
