Hi Gina, yes, dinner with Mom. How are you? It’s been really wet here.

Oh, good! I hope your Mom is well.

It’s wet here, too. Last night was a freakish line of thunderstorms that angled up from the Gulf and kept just offshore all night, but gave us constant lightning and thunder, and then it moved up and rained on us this morning. In the past few days, we’ve had about 4 inches of rain.

Meh. I'm ready to look at desert real estate.

Meh. Been raining buckets here off and on most of the weekend. Lot of thunder and lighting. I got as far as getting my overdue Beefsteak tomatoes and sweet bell peppers going outside and was cleaning up the courtyard when the sky turned the color of lead and it got ugly real quick. Then I get a text from the missus about an hour before she was to get off work and she tells me, "Oh, I forgot to tell you, the kids want me to come stay the night in Birmingham for Mother's Day. Be home tomorrow evening." I'm like:

So she comes bopping in the door an hour ago, telling me about going to dinner, sitting up drinking wine half the night, and taking the grandkids to a local park, where they held a belated Easter egg hunt by a waterfall, yada yada. In the meantime, the cats and I were relegated to sitting here in our gilded cage, waiting for the power to go out. We was like:

At least she brought home beer as a peace offering.

The cats got the better end of the deal. I fixed the ribeyes in a pan that I was going to cook us for dinner, and they ate the lion's share of hers. BWAH-HAHAHAHA......🤣 Pyrrhic victory, but revenge nonetheless. 😈
