There wasn’t one black man in any of my medical textbooks. I don’t remember any of my academics being black or books written by a black person. I did see a number of pictures of black horses, cows, and retrievers though.

Our family doctor at Subic Bay (Lt. Davidson) gave me a Gray’s Anatomy as a gift (and a dissecting kit he put together for me)
He knew I was interested in Medicine. That was a great thing he did.
Of course I had to check out the female anatomy in the book. I was a 12 year old boy...but I had to admit, it wasn’t much to get excited about. Those were dry drawings!
