When youre a pop culture-loving person of colour you learn to take the character wins where you can, but on Game of Thrones the losses just keep piling up. There is barely a brown person left alive in the long-running fantasy series and after the broadcast of season eight, episode four, yet another of the few minority ethnic characters became an expendable casualty of the writers room. So, director Ava DuVernay tweeted in response to the death of Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel). The one and only sister on the whole epic, years-long series? Thats what you wanna do? Okay.

Is Michone dead? Is the King dead? Gabriel? Morgan? Those deaf girls.
Blacks do well in walking dead.
Rogue one was NOT canon breaking. It was a side story and explained some of how various things occurred in the espionage side of the force.
It was the best Star Wars story since 4,5, 6. And spoiler everyone
DIED.
Loved it.
Basically the setting is England, with Spain tacked on to the bottom of it, and Asia Minor on a separate land mass to the East. So most of the characters are Englishmen, Scotsmen, Cornishmen etc, and those are the characters competing for the throne, and thus less expendable plot-wise.
Hyperspeed weaponization (climax of SW8) is what is canon-breaking.
It makes Rogue One completely pointless. Who needs the Death Star plans to find a weak spot when you can simply point a hyperdrive weapon at it and destroy it from any angle, no weak spot needed?
Agreed Vaquero. Star Wars is a beached whale now. But Rogue was great. Right up there with the original 3. I would rank it third best with ROTJ in 4th.
Ive been watching the British series Unforgotten, which is very much American style with characters of every type. Its a good bet that the Moslem woman, the person of color, the gay couple with their adopted child and any protected class wont be the killers.
It was a stand alone story. If you want science in your sci fI go to the Star Trek universe (I do).
Star Wars does basically no science explanations. Its a swashbuckler plain and simple that just happens to take place in space. If you want to complain, The Last Jedi was the worst POS ever released as Star Wars.
I liked Solo. I didnt like the actor but I liked the story. They should have gotten Chris Pratt to play Solo. He fits the bill
“Now if some Person of Color wants to write a hit TV show loosely based on tribal kings in 12th century Africa, go for it! You can have a cast full of People of Color and you won’t need any white people at all.”
Such a show would have to be a about tribal issues, not civilizational ones. ‘Game of Rocks to sit on’, perhaps?
The point is that the hyperdrive weaponization destroys the rationale for the rest of the franchise... all these people are adventuring to do things that can be mooted simply by pointing hyperspace weapons at big ships and death stars.
It’s not a hard-science question - it’s a question of internal story consistency, which there can be none without discarding SW8 as non-canon completely.
And this extremely bigoted claim appears one episode after the whole race of WHITE WALKERS is shattered?!
I have been watching that as well, and while the acting is great and I do enjoy the show, the politics are so obvious.
Equal Rights for the UNDEAD!!! Who speaks for the WIGHTS!?!
Heres one for you. Indiana Jones was irrelevant to what happened in Raiders of the Lost Arc. As told by Amy in Big Bang theory.
She then confesses her appreciation of the film, aside from the “glaring story problem” that “Indiana Jones plays no role in the outcome of the story. If he weren't in the film, it would turn out exactly the same... If he weren't in the movie, the Nazis would still have found the Arks, taken it to the island, opened it up, and all died, just like they did.”
> And was the principle protagonists ( and antagonists) Of episode 4 made aware of this invention?
If it were possible at all in the story world, the story world would have a completely different shape to it. No amount of suspension of disbelief can explain why, if hyperspeed weaponization is possible at all, that the eons of hyperdrive spacefarers prior had never tried it. It’s so stupid it’s absolutely impossible to suspend disbelief.
Uhhhh its Game of Thrones. You realize the body count is tremendous right? Thats everybody - not just those who are brown.
Get a grip.
Amy missed the fact that Indy found the Arc in the first place. Right where the Nazi's missed it.
Oh and let me add, Oberon and the Sand Snakes were not Brown. The actor who played Oberon is obviously Spanish and the inhabitants of Dorn could at most be argued to be Mediterranean - but thats obviously still white.
So yet more examples she was trying to cite of Brown people being killed was actually White people being killed.
If you ever watched Mystery Science Theatre 3k you might remember th lyrics to their theme song.
If you're wondering how he eats and breathes And other science facts, Then repeat to yourself, "It's just a show I should really just relax" For Mystery Science Theater 3000!
He found it because of the amulet. They would have gotten the amulet
ya and that dragon was worth 100.. 1000 times more than the “person of color”... Wheres Peta chiming in over this outrage!!??
