“in a disposable bag before placing it in the shopping cart”

AND it makes no sense whatsoever relative to the subject at hand. How do they think chicken is packaged at the store? Is every chicken just hanging there for the taking? That was the old, old days, but these days it’s already in a package.

I always put chicken (even though it is already packaged) in another plastic bag before putting in the grocery cart. In case the first wrapping is contaminated or leaky. I leave it in the extra bag or 2, if putting in the fridge before using, and sometimes before putting in the freezer.

Also, at Fareway Foods around here, you can buy whole chickens or pieces from behind the meat counter, not pre-packaged.

But you put the chicken pre-wrapped package in a disposable bag. Then you put that assembly in yet another disposable bag. Just can’t be too careful with these Level 9 Chickens.

Sam’s Club in particular offers an additional plastic bag. The juices from the chicken can leak out of the package. I’m not sure how practical it is to wash the chicken in the bag. You’d either have to take it outside or end up having to wash the counter anyway.
