The 32-year-old man, whose name has not been released, is an active soldier in the U.S. Army, officials said. His unit was on the island for field training at Pohakuloa Training Area.

I’ve been there about 10x. Not sure what the purpose was, not like he was going to improve the view much. Seeing that Island and that park should be on everyone’s bucket list.
In March I climbed up Fissure 8. Wow... it’s a few hundred yards from my sisters house.
I feel bad for him because he is a soldier so I won’t say anything bad about him other than, of course he should have known better.
Hope he fully recovers.
