Victoria Komada was born with both legs bent backwards, leaving her unable to walk for the first three years of her life.
Her condition, bilateral tibial hemimelia, is a congenital deformity that causes missing bones and deformities in the legs and ankles, according to the Paley Institute.
We were looking for help everywhere, her mother, Marzena Drusewicz, told SWNS.
According to the Good News Network, Victorias family members, who live in Poland, were first told that both of her legs needed to be amputated, but they insisted there must be another option.
They then found Dr. Dror Paley, a surgeon in Florida who said he would be able to reconstruct one of her legs and it would cost $235,000.
The family reached out to the public for help, and after raising the funds, they traveled in July to the Paley Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida, according to the Good News Network.
Dr. Paley determined that he could fix the 3 year olds left leg, but her right leg would have to be amputated and could be fitted with a prosthetic.
After the nine-hour surgery in July, Victorias parents had to twist six individual screws a few millimeters each day to coax the bones excruciatingly into place, according to the Eastern Daily Press.
That was a horrible time because she was crying all day and night, Drusewicz told the newspaper. She was saying, Ive had enough what are you doing to me?'
One day I was thinking I wanted to pack our stuff and come back home, she added. We werent eating or sleeping properly and there was so much stress with Victoria.
But after another surgery in November which fused together the bones in her left leg things became easier.

Praise be to God! Her huge smile is a great relief after reading about such a painful procedure.
I guess I would wear it for a while, then they would take it off and put a new one on at a better angle, etc. They got my foot straightened out - but that leg is still noticeably skinnier than the other one from wearing the cast for so long.
I did very well in some of my High School sports. My parents would tell me that they didn't even know if I would be able to walk properly.
I got a kick of her cute smile BEFORE the operation as well. I’m sure she had her rough days - but some of these kids are just amazing on how they can deal with their terrible difficulties.
(I’m still complaining about that nagging sliver from the other day that I can’t get out!)
What a darling little girl. I’m so glad the operations were successful. And what loving parents she has!
My grandson was born with club feet. My son and DIL took him to a St Louis where he was treated by a Dr who specializes in club foot correction. After weeks of casting, and braces, he is 3 1/2 year, he walks normally! I was there with my DIL when grandson was casted. Amazing to see how his feet were straighter after every casting!
I’m so happy to hear yours was successful!
I’m confused. The article says she can walk and run and do sports normally... but didn’t one of her legs have to be amputated?
Now, I’m going to have to read the article!
Yes, she’s been fitted with a prosthetic....
The prosthetic legs are very good these days.
If you click on the photo of her standing it you can see it better. It appears that her prosthetic is well below her knee. I’m guessing that is a huge plus. That wasn’t clear to me either - I thought he was able to save both of her legs.
Obviously she doesn’t seem to mind too much!
She’s beautiful !
The kid runs and jumps now like any other kid.
Still wears the braces but these fit into his shoes. With jeans on you'd never know.
All praise and glory to God for this.
Yes. She looks so beautiful and HAPPY.
I was born with clubbed feet as well. Doctor recommended some kind of painful tendon surgery. Thankfully a nurse who was also born that way privately recommended old fashioned braces with the shoes attached, you would gradually rotate the shoes as I grew. Fixed me right up.
Yes. She wears a prosthesis as well. You can see it in the photo in this article:

Yep....we did the casting and braces. Worked like a charm.
