These are the bittersweet kinds of end of life news. He was successfully in what he did, and lived a long life.

RIP.

Red Kelly’s name is on the Stanley Cup for the 67 Maple Leafs, and he played 61 games that year - but he doesn’t appear in the rosters I’ve been able to find for the Maple Leaf players of the 6 game series.

Was he injured for the series?

I also just saw he was a Member of Parliament while he played for the Leafs. That’s awesome!

It just so happens that today is the anniversary of the last Maple Leafs championship 52 years ago.

He who is in a very exclusive club (along with Leaf teammate Frank Mahovlich who did it with Montreal and Bryan Trottier who did so with the New York Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins) to win two or more Stanley Cups with two different teams.

A bit before my time, but he was a great player. I am proud he was a Red Wing and they retired his number.

Rejected a trade to the Rangers before going to the Leafs, so not a favorite
